Waterberg Taaibos Trail
The Waterberg Taaibos Trail explores the characteristic thorn Bushveld of the central Waterberg — the taaibos (Searsia lancea, buffalo thorn) and mixed acacia vegetation that fills the valleys between the Waterberg’s red sandstone ridges. A typical intermediate Waterberg riding experience through the accessible open Bushveld terrain of the biosphere’s core zone.
What to Expect
Gravel roads and bush tracks on moderately rolling Waterberg terrain through thorn and mopane Bushveld. The characteristic Waterberg vegetation creates an enclosed, aromatic riding environment with the red sandstone ridgelines visible above the Bushveld canopy. Wildlife including kudu, impala, warthog and Bushveld birds are present throughout.
Getting There
Central Waterberg Biosphere accessible from Vaalwater. GPS reference: -24.3234, 27.8834.
