Delareyville Plains Ride
Delareyville is a small town on the flat North West plains — named for Koos de la Rey, the legendary Boer General who operated extensively in this area during the Anglo-Boer War. The town is surrounded by the characteristic sunflower and maize farmland of the central North West Highveld plains. The 28km Plains Ride follows gravel farm roads through this historically significant and agriculturally productive landscape on easy, accessible terrain.
What to Expect
Gravel farm roads on entirely flat North West plains terrain. The vast sunflower fields (particularly spectacular when in flower, typically February–March) and maize farmland create a bold agricultural landscape with the characteristic big-sky of the interior plateau. Easy and accessible for all abilities.
Getting There
Delareyville is on the R503 in central North West Province. GPS: -26.6834, 25.4523.
