Derby Grassland Loop

Derby is a small agricultural town between Rustenburg and Brits on the North West Highveld — a farming community in the grassland and bushveld transition zone on the northern side of the Magaliesberg. The 22km Grassland Loop follows gravel farm roads through the open grassland and bushveld terrain surrounding the town on easy, relaxed terrain suitable for all abilities.

What to Expect

Easy gravel roads on flat to gently rolling Highveld grassland terrain. The grassland flowers in summer (October–April) create spectacular wildflower displays. Spring-bok, impala and the characteristic grassland birds of the North West provide wildlife interest throughout the route.
