Mafikeng 10km Trail

Mahikeng (formerly Mafikeng and historically Mafeking) is North West Province’s capital city — famous as the site of the 217-day Boer War Siege of Mafeking (1899–1900), relief of which was celebrated across the British Empire. The city sits in the dry Bushveld of the western North West plateau and the 10km trail follows gravel roads through the Bushveld surrounding the capital on easy, accessible terrain.

What to Expect

Easy gravel roads on flat Bushveld terrain. The dry thornveld of the Mahikeng area creates an open, warm riding environment. Historical context abounds — the Mafeking battlefield sites and the local museum telling the siege story are close to the riding area for post-ride visits.
