Pelindaba 16mi Singletrack

The Lion and Safari Park Red Trail is the advanced singletrack experience on the Pelindaba Road reserve — a route that the park describes as ‘ready for some serious climbs?’ with approximately 50% singletrack, 25% jeep track and 25% gravel road. The descent sections toward the Crocodile River are described as having ‘some tricky bits down towards the Crocodile river requiring care and skill (some areas are very rocky).’ The ‘Pelindaba rock’ referenced on the park’s website is characteristic of this Magaliesberg Biosphere area — sharp quartzite that punishes inattention on descents.

What to Expect

Technical singletrack on advanced terrain with serious climbing and descents with rocky technical sections toward the Crocodile River. Beautiful scenic views of mountains and plains throughout. The Pelindaba rock sections demand careful line selection — sharp quartzite is unforgiving at speed. Wildlife on this game reserve — numerous antelope species — adds a compelling backdrop. An excellent advanced riding option within 40 minutes of Johannesburg and Pretoria.
