Koster 20km Challenge

Koster sits at the western end of the Magaliesberg on the R24 between Brits and Swartruggens — a quiet agricultural town where the Magaliesberg range begins to flatten into the North West plains. The 20km Challenge loop uses gravel roads and mountain tracks through the foothills terrain on the western Magaliesberg approach with the characteristic quartzite rock and mixed Bushveld of the mountain system’s lower slopes.

What to Expect

Gravel roads and mountain tracks on moderately rolling Magaliesberg foothills terrain. More topographic interest than the flat plains terrain — the western Magaliesberg foothills provide genuine hill climbing with views across the North West plateau to the west. Wildlife on the surrounding farms includes impala, kudu and Bushveld birds.
