Klerksdorp 15km Loop

Klerksdorp (now JB Marks) is the dominant city in southern North West Province — a gold and uranium mining city on the southern Witwatersrand whose mine dumps and tailings facilities create a distinctive landscape around the urban fringe. The 15km loop uses gravel roads through the farming and reclaimed mine terrain surrounding the city on intermediate terrain accessible to regular recreational riders.

What to Expect

Gravel roads on moderately rolling southern North West terrain with the distinctive mine dump and reclaimed grassland landscape of the Far West Rand. The open Highveld grassland and agricultural fringe provide wildlife interest — grassland birds are diverse and springbok are present on some of the larger farms.
