Dr Ruth Segomotsi 15km

The Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District is the western North West Province — a semi-arid region on the Kalahari fringe centred on the town of Vryburg. The landscape transitions from the Highveld plateau to the Kalahari semi-desert, creating a characteristic thornveld savanna with red Kalahari soils, camelthorn and umbrella thorn acacias. The 15km ride follows gravel roads through this distinctive dry landscape on easy terrain.

What to Expect

Easy gravel roads on flat Kalahari-fringe terrain. The dry thornveld vegetation — camelthorn, shepherd’s tree and the red Kalahari soils — creates a distinctive arid riding environment quite different from the rest of the province. Springbok, gemsbok and the Kalahari-adapted birdlife are visible throughout.
