Magaliesberg 25km Challenge
The 25km Magaliesberg Challenge extends from the village into the full mountain terrain — climbing from the southern foothills up into the Magaliesberg range with sustained elevation gain on rocky quartzite tracks and singletrack. The mountain’s distinctive biology — ancient fig trees, baboons and the exceptional raptors including black eagle for which the range is famous — provides a compelling natural backdrop throughout the climbing sections.
What to Expect
Gravel roads, mountain tracks and technical singletrack on advanced terrain with significant elevation gain into the 2-billion-year-old Magaliesberg. Rocky quartzite demands expert bike-handling at speed. The summit views — south over the Gauteng Highveld and north across the North West Bushveld — are extensive. The descent to Magaliesburg village through the foothills is the reward for the climbing effort.
