Fouriesburg Farmstead Loop

Fouriesburg sits in the heart of the eastern Free State sandstone belt between Clarens and the Lesotho border — a small agricultural town surrounded by dramatic red sandstone formations and working farms. The 30km Farmstead Loop explores this landscape on a mix of gravel farm roads and singletrack through the Rooiberge foothills.

What to Expect

A mix of gravel farm roads connecting to singletrack sections through the sandstone terrain around Fouriesburg. The riding is intermediate with moderate climbing and some rocky technical sections on the singletrack portions. Farm gates, stream crossings and the occasional flock of sheep are part of the experience.

Fouriesburg’s Quiet Charm

Fouriesburg is quieter and less visited than nearby Clarens but equally beautiful — the sandstone landscape is dramatic, accommodation is good value and the area has a genuine farm-country character that appeals to riders looking for something off the beaten track.
