Magoebaskloof XCO Course

The Magoebaskloof XCO Course is a purpose-built cross-country race track laid out just behind Stanford Lake College — one of the TMA trail network’s most technically refined sections. Designed by Hilton Turvey (the acclaimed trail builder behind the Karkloof’s world-class trails), the 6km loop packs 160m of elevation change and mainly singletrack character into a compact but demanding circuit. MTBRoutes states: ‘it may be a mere 6km, but is technical and tough.’ The course serves as the venue for the annual Magoebaskloof MTB Classic race.

What to Expect

Technical purpose-built singletrack on compact but challenging terrain. The Hilton Turvey design quality is evident — purposeful, technically engaging and well-built despite the venue’s non-professional status. The course packs genuine XCO challenge into 6km. Also functions as the link trail between the Blue, Green and Yellow TMA routes when doing multi-route combinations.
