Access is from three main entry points — Ou Kaapse Weg (Gate 2), Constantia Nek, and the Silvermine Gate on the False Bay side above Muizenberg.

A popular and rewarding route links Silvermine with Tokai via a high mountain traverse — combining the best of both areas in a single outing. The Silvermine Reservoir is a scenic midpoint worth stopping at. On clear days the views from the plateau span from Hout Bay and the Twelve Apostles across to the Hottentots Holland Mountains and the Overberg coast.
