Hartbeespoort Mountain Top
The Hartbeespoort Mountain Top circuit is the full summit challenge above the dam — a 25km expert ride gaining the Magaliesberg ridgeline and traversing the mountain’s upper terrain before descending back to the resort area. The Magaliesberg at this point towers 400m above the plains — the summit views encompass the Hartbeespoort Dam below, the Pilanesberg Game Reserve to the north-west and on clear days the Johannesburg skyline to the south-east.
What to Expect
Mountain road, technical singletrack and gravel pass roads on expert terrain with very significant elevation gain. Rocky quartzite summit terrain demands expert bike-handling. The descent from the summit plateau is long and technical. This circuit forms part of the Magalies Monster race training routes used by competitive North West riders.
