Rustenburg Kloof Loop

The Rustenburg Kloof Loop uses the Kgaswane Mountain Reserve’s kloof terrain — the dramatic gorge systems cutting through the Magaliesberg’s northern slopes above Rustenburg. The reserve’s 19 Trailforks trails cover the full range of this terrain, and the Kloof Loop accesses the most dramatic gorge sections with the characteristic rocky quartzite walls, mountain streams and the stunning viewpoint from the 400m-high Magaliesberg rim overlooking Rustenburg below.

What to Expect

Mountain tracks and singletrack on advanced rocky quartzite terrain. The kloof sections require technical skill — rocky descents into gorge terrain with stream crossings. The Magaliesberg rim viewpoint is one of the finest in the province — looking north over Rustenburg and toward the Pilanesberg and Waterberg ranges on clear days. Sable antelope and Cape vultures are the reserve’s signature species.
