Dullstroom Trout Loop
Dullstroom is South Africa’s highest town and one of Mpumalanga’s most celebrated Escarpment destinations — a highland village at 2,100m famous for its fly-fishing, whisky distillery and the characteristic cool, misty climate that makes it a year-round retreat from the Lowveld heat. The 25km Trout Loop explores the gravel roads and singletrack through the highland trout fishing farms around the town.
What to Expect
Gravel roads and singletrack on gently rolling highland terrain. The clear trout streams that cross the route are the defining feature — pristine, cold highland streams running through grassland meadows in a landscape of genuine natural beauty. The highland grassland supports extraordinary birdlife including marsh owl, blue crane and a diversity of raptors.
Dullstroom as a Destination
Dullstroom’s restaurants, the Dullstroom Inn, and the Dullstroom Distillery make the town one of Mpumalanga’s finest post-ride destinations. Plan for a full weekend.
Getting There
