Sabie to Graskop Forest Traverse
The Sabie to Graskop Forest Traverse is one of Mpumalanga’s most satisfying point-to-point rides — a 28km advanced route linking South Africa’s MTB capital (Sabie) with the Panorama Route’s central hub (Graskop) through the dense plantation and indigenous forest of the Escarpment. The route passes near multiple waterfalls, crosses plantation ridgelines and delivers consistent forest scenery throughout.
What to Expect
Gravel roads and technical forest singletrack on advanced terrain through plantation and indigenous forest. The traverse character — moving through the landscape rather than looping back — creates a progressive sense of journey. A shuttle vehicle or car drop at Graskop is required for the point-to-point option. The Sabie area’s forest trail quality — developed by MAMBA and the Sabie Chain-Gang — is consistently excellent throughout.
Getting There
Start at Castle Rock in Sabie, finish in Graskop. GPS: -25.0456, 30.8312.
