Crocodile River Gravel Sprint
The Crocodile River is the lifeblood of the southern Mpumalanga Lowveld — it defines the southern boundary of the Kruger National Park and the farming country along its southern bank is intensively irrigated with subtropical crops including citrus, mangoes and vegetables. The 28km gravel sprint follows these farm roads along the river with the Kruger boundary fence on the northern bank and frequent elephant, hippopotamus and wildlife visible in and along the river.
What to Expect
Gravel farm roads on flat to very gently rolling subtropical farming terrain. The river boundary creates consistent wildlife viewing throughout — hippo in the deep pools, crocodile on the banks and elephant regularly crossing from the Kruger side. A shuttle vehicle between Nelspruit and Malelane is needed for the point-to-point option.
Getting There
Access from Nelspruit or Malelane along the Crocodile River. GPS reference: -25.5312, 31.3023.
