Noordhoek Peak MTB Loop

The Noordhoek Peak Loop is one of the Cape Peninsula’s most rewarding mountain bike challenges — a demanding 25km circuit over exposed fynbos ridgelines on the wild Atlantic-facing side of the peninsula, with views across the sweeping white sand of Noordhoek Beach, the Atlantic coastline and the dramatic Chapman’s Peak cliffs.

What to Expect

The ride involves significant climbing — 700m or more of elevation gain on jeep tracks and natural paths through open fynbos. The terrain is raw and exposed, providing a genuine wilderness experience remarkably close to Cape Town. The descent from the peak toward Noordhoek is a highlight — an open, fast run with panoramic ocean views. The loop is linkable with Chapman’s Peak for an extended day ride, and connects into the broader Silvermine and Tokai trail networks for multi-hour mountain traverses.

This is not a beginner or family ride — the climbing is sustained and the terrain unforgiving in bad weather. A hardtail XC or trail bike is ideal.

Access from Slangkop Road in Noordhoek or from Ou Kaapse Weg (the pass between Noordhoek and Muizenberg). TMNP permit required — purchase at Silvermine Gate on Ou Kaapse Weg. GPS: -34.1089, 18.3712.
